MARTIN PARRY
Director, Company of Musicians

My career in music began when I was accepted as a chorister at Canterbury Cathedral at the age of 8. I took up the flute shortly afterwards and studied it here in the UK at the Guildhall, and then on a government scholarship to Paris with the great Jean Pierre Rampal.

As a fully- fledged professional classical musician for over 30 years, I have been a member of the BBC Symphony Orchestra, Principal Flute of the London Philharmonic Orchestra for 10 years and I’ve played for the last 16 with the LSO. I have appeared at all the major venues including as a soloist at the Promenade concerts, for the opera at Glyndebourne, and I broadcast frequently on the BBC, on both radio and TV. I have also organised and performed in chamber music recitals in the UK, in Europe and as far afield as Pakistan and Japan.

During this time I have also been asked on many occasions to perform for a huge variety of functions and special events, from weddings and charity events to the Millennium Celebrations at Greenwich and performances for the Royal Family at Buckingham Palace and Windsor Castle.

My intention in setting up the COMPANY OF MUSICIANS is to use the experience I have obtained to offer high quality live music to suit all kinds of events. With the friends and contacts I have made over the years I am able to call on the services of superb professional musicians with a wide variety of styles who can play anywhere in the country for your special occasion.
